A Very Convenient Lie

When I first heard that Al Gore was up for a Nobel Peace Prize, I couldn’t believe it.

Here is a guy with an obvious political agenda, is clearly an evolutionist through and through, has no regard for empirical evidence, let alone the ‘truth’, yet claims to have laid hold of some sort of ‘inconvenient truth’. And what does his award-winning Hollywood film have to do with world peace? I am perplexed and befuddled by this, but I shouldn’t be. It’s just more proof that this old world is circling the drain.

I watched three different news outlets on his Nobel win this morning. The BBC showed the actual announcement being made, and then didn’t say much; the morning guy on CNN pontificated and rambled on and on with an appropriately dire expression, saying nothing of substance but being pretty intense about his assessment that the planet is in big trouble. After he was done, the assisting female talking head said, ‘well, thank your for your views on that’. Yep, that’s what it was, HIS views. Not the NEWS, as they claim to be delivering, but more subjective views. The folks on FOX were at least skeptical, citing the fact that in the UK, the schools have to give a disclaimer prior to a showing, that the film contains at least 11 factual errors….I mean, lies. Isn’t that the same thing, technically speaking? There is even talk of requiring him to give up his Oscar reward because of the errors, yet he is getting handsomely rewarded for his lies and deception. And maybe now he will use this as a platform to run for President. Oh joy.

Romans 1 comes to mind just now. Let’s see, something about “supressing the truth in unrighteousness” (1:18) “for ever since creation…His attributes are clearly seen…they are without excuse” (1:20)…”professing to be wise, they became fools” (1:22)…”who exchanged the truth of God for a lie…and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator” (1:25). Now I don’t claim to be dogmatic about “the lie” in Romans being evolution, I don’t think you can. But in context, I would say that evolution is in the running for the father of all lies. And this lie just got a shot of legitimacy by the Nobel committee, on it’s way to becoming a ‘truth’. Makes me sick, it does. At the very least, we can see that evolution is the lie behind the environmental agenda, because there is no submission to God as Lord of all, or acknowledgement that “in the beginning, God created…”

The fact that they are tying the global warming debate to world peace should trouble us as well. The reasoning is, according to the BBC, that as the earth’s resources become more depleted and polluted, the people of the earth will fight over them more and more. The notion that this Hollywood movie will prevent world wars is quite a stretch. There is also the possibility that there will be a global tax levied on those nations (the West, primarily) who leave a bigger ‘carbon footprint’, and be colletively punished for their extensive use of fossil fuels and styrofoam burger containers.

It is very convenient for Al Gore and the spirit of the age to be getting such praise of men for perpetuating this lie. The Gospel is very INconvenient to people like this, because if you believe Genesis 1, and Romans, they you have to be accountable to a righteous God for your lost condition; you have to acknowledge that God will judge the people of the earth, and that His plan includes a new heaven and a new earth. Evolution and global warming belong to the deceptions of the age, and are only going to get more legitimacy as Satan builds his final case for being worshiped as God. As believers, we should be good stewards of everything within our reach, but our “spiritual footprint” is much more eternally significant than our “carbon footprint”.

But wait…this just in…global warming is true! And it’s caused by all that hot air coming from Al Gore.

About Mary

I have been a believer since 1981. Everything else before that is relatively meaningless. My heart has, from day 1, always been toward the subject of bible prophecy and I have seen the Lord do amazing things in my life through simply studying the Word and applying it to my life. I am a wife, grandmother and work full time in ministry. Life is full, and full of learning curves and seasons.

ONE of the world’s foremost meteorologists has called the theory that helped Al Gore share the Nobel Peace Prize “ridiculous” and the product of “people who don’t understand how the atmosphere works”.

Dr William Gray, a pioneer in the science of seasonal hurricane forecasts, told a packed lecture hall at the University of North Carolina that humans were not responsible for the warming of the earth.

His comments came on the same day that the Nobel committee honoured Mr Gore for his work in support of the link between humans and global warming.

“We’re brainwashing our children,” said Dr Gray, 78, a long-time professor at Colorado State University. “They’re going to the Gore movie [An Inconvenient Truth] and being fed all this. It’s ridiculous.”

At his first appearance since the award was announced in Oslo, Mr Gore said: “We have to quickly find a way to change the world’s consciousness about exactly what we’re facing.”

Mr Gore shared the Nobel prize with the United Nations climate panel for their work in helping to galvanise international action against global warming.

But Dr Gray, whose annual forecasts of the number of tropical storms and hurricanes are widely publicised, said a natural cycle of ocean water temperatures – related to the amount of salt in ocean water – was responsible for the global warming that he acknowledges has taken place.

However, he said, that same cycle meant a period of cooling would begin soon and last for several years.

“We’ll look back on all of this in 10 or 15 years and realise how foolish it was,” Dr Gray said.

During his speech to a crowd of about 300 that included meteorology students and a host of professional meteorologists, Dr Gray also said those who had linked global warming to the increased number of hurricanes in recent years were in error.

He cited statistics showing there were 101 hurricanes from 1900 to 1949, in a period of cooler global temperatures, compared to 83 from 1957 to 2006 when the earth warmed.

“The human impact on the atmosphere is simply too small to have a major effect on global temperatures,” Dr Gray said.

He said his beliefs had made him an outsider in popular science.

“It bothers me that my fellow scientists are not speaking out against something they know is wrong,” he said. “But they also know that they’d never get any grants if they spoke out. I don’t care about grants.”

Ah, the voice of reason : ) Thanks, Marilyn.
I also want to ad a comment I heard today that made me chuckle:
These people are evolutionists, so they would have believed in an Ice Age.
How do they think the Ice Age ended? By a form of global warming?
Then that warming was accomplished in a world without one single automobile or the Industrial Age and the evil culture of waste they attribute to it …

Boy or boy, the global warming mumbo jumbo makes me feel asthmatic…Mary, you are a breath of fresh air!!! Thank you!
